Every bite of this meal was so incredibly satisfying. My taste buds were thriving!! The Khao Man Gai Tod (fried chicken with pineapple sauce) was seasoned perfectly and had just the right amount of crunch. The Khao Man Gai (Hainan Chicken) was so fresh and tender too! BUT I MUST SAY - what truly perfected this meal was the rice and winter melon soup! Workers are so attentive and kind, my only con was having to wait an hour... well worth it though!
I have only heard good things about this restaurant from my friends but it truly blew me away when I went yesterday night! The first thing I noticed right away was how cozy and warm this restaurant was from their friendly and quick service to how well decorated the inside was! They truly put so much thought into every part of their business and I can tell! Their khao man gai was a classic that everyone recommended but they offered a combo choice for 3 more dollars which was a great way to try new protein choices. They also have the option to customize your own dish which was a great option as well but I wanted to stick with the classics! They also have monthly specials that I absolutely loved! The Tom yum noodle soup was savory, sweet and spicy which really hit the spot for me as a Tom yum lover!!! I loved every dish that came out and they're leaving me wanting more. Highly recommend to anyone who wants to come to a high quality restaurant with good people!
Absolutely one of my favorite Thai spots in Seattle! I ordered their combo with gai tod and gai yang (fried chicken and grilled chicken) and both really hits the spot. The gai tod had a nice crispy texture that kept making me want more. But flavor wise, my favorite was the gai yang as it was marinated so well in nice umami and sweet flavors. The sauces accompanying the chicken were also really good. The servers are also really kind and take the time to recommend dishes. Parking can be a challenge on weekends but overall really good!!
Cute little shop in a small shopping center. I had heard it was good but honestly it's better than I thought it would be! Went at 5:30pm on a weekday and it was right before the dinner rush. The restaurant went from one table occupied to people waiting outside in like an hour. We got different chicken combo plates and the food was a decent amount. The fried chicken blew me away and I will be coming back for that specifically. The crispiness of the coating is unreal and the sweet chili sauce it is paired with is divine. Coming with rice, soup and cucumbers, this is such a well rounded meal. For dessert, we got the milk pudding. It was a bit sweeter than we would have liked, but it was a great ending to a wonderful meal. All the staff are so nice and I'm so glad I found this place to try out!
This place is such a hidden gem! Server was super sweet and helpful in recommending dishes. We tried a red curry and one of the chicken combos (#2). When it arrived, I was pleasantly surprised by the presentation, the plates they used reminded me of home, and the portions were huge! We also got a side of the egg noodles just to try it, and they paired really well with the curry. Flavors of the chicken was amazing, it tasted very authentic. Sitting in this restaurant made me feel like I was back in Asia. Super cozy place, I'll definitely be back!
The spectacular Yelp average speaks for itself. This place is rated 5 stars and deserves it! We came in hungry for lunch and they did not disappoint. Based on the signage, I think this place is on the newer side? It's in a tiny strip mall and the parking lot was completely full, but we found street parking down the road. Service was excellent. We were seated pretty much immediately and had our order taken. I honestly think we only waited like five or 10 minutes before our food was ready. They came to check on us to see how everything was tasting and made sure we always had water. We were beyond satisfied and would absolutely return for a scrumptious meal.
What a find! A northern Thai family run restaurant offering up really tasty dishes that we don't usually find in Vancouver. We love the intense spicyness of northern thai food. Their chicken knuckle appy is a must get. Great seasoning and crunchiness. Genius. They still offer traditional pad se ew with great wok hei but you won't go wrong with any of their chicken dishes. Very flavoursome and paired well with their sauces and ginger rice. Will definitely go back the next time as well.
Ayyyy, If anyone is seeking a yummy chicken and rice/noodle dish but done in a Thai style... search no more and come on over to Aroy. This place is so good that I almost contemplated on not reviewing it but it's too good to keep it to myself :) After visiting this cozy place numerous times, here are the highlights that keeps me coming back for more: 1. Service: Phenomenal staff! The very first time I came here, it was during that random cyclone bomb / windstorm that resulted in a power outage. Even when the restaurant was blacked out, the staff made extra effort to keep the food cooking and keep customers comfortable. As for subsequent visits, staff is always friendly and welcoming and quick to help out with whatever you need/want :) 2. The Chicken!: Here at Aroy, protein options are simple: Chicken or Tofu... and if you like chicken, you came to the right spot. Served primarily in three different ways (deep fried/Gai Tod, Hainan/ Man Gai, or roasted /Gai Yang) + other choices like the monthly special, garlic, or pineapple, any chicken option you pick will be delicious. I tried all of the chicken options and absolutely am a fan of all! Especially the Gai Tod where it's crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside and comes with a great dipping sauce. 3. Combos: I love how you have the option to pick a premade combo (Rice or Noodles, Soup, Chicken, Dipping Sauce) or make your own! Portions wise, you'll definitely leave here in a food coma trance or bring home leftovers. 4. Appetizers and Desserts: So far, all the options I have tried are so good! Most memorable would be: Corn Fritters, Wonton Cheese, Kanom Tuay. 5. Honorable Mentions / Yummy Sides: Oh boy, I must say that the garlic fried rice, Wintermelon soup and the green beans are absolutely worth eating. Yum yum yum 6. Side Notes: Parking lot is available in front of Aroy. Place gets packed at all times, so do recommend coming in and getting your name on the wait list. For those who order takeout, use the Aroy online ordering system! Quick and efficient with text reminders when your food is ready :) Can't wait to come back again and savor all the desserts wooo!
This place is absolutely amazing!!! Truly a 5/5. FOOD: We did the build your own plate and was able to try the four chicken options. I personally loved the Hainan style chicken. It's super juicy and the sauce that comes with it is flavorful. I recommend adding a second protein for $3 so that you're able to try two styles of their chicken! The fried chicken was also really good and same with the grilled version. For the carbs, they offer jasmine rice, garlic rice, and garlic noodles. All options of carbs were great but I would recommend their garlic noodles and rice! For dessert, we had their Pandan crepe cake which was perfect for finishing off a hearty meal. We decided to share a slide amongst the four of us since our meal was quite heavy so this crepe cake being light was perfect! We also ordered their Thai tea and green Thai tea which were pretty standard and delicious. I was pleased that they offered green Thai tea since there aren't very many places that offer this variant. SERVICE: Phenomenal! Super nice and attentive staff who would check in from time to time. It's a small restaurant but there is a home feel to it making it a comfortable place to eat. Overall, it will be my new go to place. The portion size is great and for the price that you pay and the quality of food that you're getting, it's a good value!
I think my friend was raving about the place a while ago so I had this place in my mind for quite some time. I had a free afternoon on a weekday so I decided to try it on a whim. It took me this long to go there because I'm never in the area and I'm usually not too psyched about taking the bus to an unfamiliar place. But I'm glad I did it!! I had the combination of simmered chicken and grilled chicken with the usual rice, cucumber, and some sauce. This was probably the best khao man gai I had in the US. I wasn't keen on some of the khao man gai I had elsewhere because they are sometimes too fatty/heavy or the meat is too dry. But this restaurant did it perfectly. Chicken pieces were tender and not dry at all and the dish was not too heavy that I could continue eating for a long time. It's a pretty generous portion so I didn't finish eating in one sitting. I saw on the menu that this dish is medium spicy, and knowing how Thai spicy can get deadly at times, I was a little cautious -- but it was absolutely nothing to worry about. One sauce was spicier than the other one but it was still barely spicy. I like my khao man gai not spicy, so I appreciated that. I had no idea how long the trip home was going to be, so I just ordered takeout this time. But there was a warm atmosphere at the restaurant and the guy taking order was welcoming and polite. I would love to dine in next time. I also saw green curry in the menu and wonder if that would be good too.
